They help employers complete the process ahead of the 2014 health plan reforms. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will take effect on January 1, 2014. It will introduce new provisions that might be burdensome for employers, including increased health insurance premiums and big penalties on lapses in offering insurance. By filing for an early renewal, however, employers can postpone the provisions of PPACA for one year.
